from the "no on 87" folks:in fact, prop. 87 doesn’t guarantee a dime for school bus replacement (or any money for that matter for any public fleets). what it says (section 26050) is that just about everyone, including schools, are eligible to compete for money to buy new buses. they would compete with thousands of private and public garbage companies, bus services, or any public or private fleet of cars and the list goes on, six subsections-worth. and in the end who gets the money will be up to the 50 political appointees running the show. additionally, the proponents would rather not turn-in the report from the independent legislative analyst who reports prop. 87 will reduce existing state and local revenues. of course, that means less money for schools.my default voting stance ...
